Check out our rules and regulations for hog hunting VARMINT and HOG HUNTING Newsletter 2005 The last few years have been good to us on our hog hunts, with our most recent largest of the year being taken in late November at a weight around 400 lbs. She was a sow, but a bigun nonetheless! . Interest in this activity has as much as doubled each season, allowing us to expand in number of feeders, stands, and areas hunted.. Last year was a good year as we hunted hogs and varmints well into spring.. Our best months proved to be October through February with lots of good sized hogs either seen or taken, but we did also see ample opportunities from February through April.. Based on hunting success the last few years,. We have personally set our hunting season from October through April for the 2005-2006 season. Our hunts are different from other outfitters in that we exclusively still hunt over feeders for our hogs.. When a hunter arrives at our areas, we put them in the stand a few hours before dark.. Most hogs visit our feeders at dusk to about 10:30 pm.. We install LED lights on each feeder, which do not scare the hogs in any way but prove to allow hunters to see the hogs even in the dead of night.. Our 12 foot stands are set up for bow, pistol, or shotgun at about 25 yards.. We do not recommend spotlights as these tend to scare hogs.. Even red scope lights! We recommend lighted sights or laser sights as you will be able to see the pigs under the feeders with the feeder lights we install. Our main operation is located near Telico, Texas - 38 miles South of Dallas - But, we do offer hunts in other locations as well. Varmint hunting for Hogs, Coyotes, Bobcats, and a variety of Small Mammals begins in October of each year and goes through the spring months as long as the weather permits. While we do hunt varmints regularly with great success, hog hunting is our mainstay in this area! We do not charge kill fees on any of our hunts. Hunters are allowed to take as many as 3 pigs for the hunt with no additional charge.. Our charge of $125 buys a chance at as many as 3 pigs, transport to and from the blind, transport of any pigs taken, and the knowledge that the stand you hunt has not been hunted the night before and is seeing activity.. We cannot guarantee kills as these are free ranging pigs with a mind of their own.. We have enough stands to rotate hunts and to keep the pigs guessing.. That is a benefit to you, the hunter! The only other charge you can expect is any optional processing we may do on your pig or pigs.. We charge $25 for small pigs, $50 for large pigs, and $75 if you want you pig cleaned and caped for taxidermy. We have been feeding at our feeders since September of this year. Several of these feeders have been operational for multiple years, and were being visited even before we refilled and recharged the feeders. Beginning October 2005, we will once again offer hog hunting. We are altering our hunt schedule a little bit by offering an evening hog hunt over feeders for $125 on Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday nights only.. This is to insure that there is as little pressure on the hogs as possible and to provide the hunter an excellent chance at getting a pig! We have various packages for your hunting needs, and a variety of areas to hunt. We can offer morning or evening hunts for varmints with hogs hunted in evenings only. Morning hunts will find our hunters in the field several hours before sunrise to catch any early varmints that may come in to the calls. Vice versa, evening hog hunts may find a hunter in the stands well after dark with evening varmint hunts will take hunters to the field with calls and spotlights in tow.. As stated before, we hunt hogs primarily in the evening with led feeder lights. We have had ALOT of success with this technique and it provides that serious rush most big game hunters want. It is great for bow and firearms with open sights, but is not good for rifle hunting with scopes. When we are hunting a client with a rifle for varmints or hogs, we will be inside a vehicle and will be using a spotlight, or the hunter may be put on a known trail. If you are a beginner, novice, or experienced hunter, we at Bwanas Guide Services know you will be fulfilled in your expectations in the hunts we offer. Contact us by either email or phone, and allow us to show you a hunt you will remember for years to come! Remember to ask for a date or dates, and mail your deposits to finalize your hunt. No reservations will be taken without deposits! If a night stay-over is necessary, we can make motel reservations at special rates for your convenience.
