The last few years have been good to us
on our dove hunts. We put a lot of guys on the dove last year and had a lot of
satisfied hunters! Opening day last year yielded only 2 hunters not
getting their limits, with many limiting out in an hour or two. The shooting was
fast and furious. All of this just 30 minutes South of Dallas. What more can we
ask for? We expect another good year this year, and a great one if
the hatch is half as good as it looks. We are already seeing dove everywhere and
expect that our opening weekend will be another great one to remember.
As many of you know, our hunts are
different from other outfitters in that we strive to make the hunt as easy and
exciting as possible. This year we are going to do something a little different
than from years past. Instead of the one hunt package, which is still available
for $50 for an afternoon hunt, we are also offering a full weekend of hunting
and fun. Opening morning, Friday Sept. 1st, we will have open skeet/trap
shooting at our automated skeet/trap fields. Lunch will be served
following this shoot. Then we go to the fields for some dove ‘wackage’,
where those wanting a day hunt only will join us as well.
Accommodations and/or evening plans
will be up to your personal preference for this package, but camping on site
will be allowed for a modest camping fee. Running water and electricity
are available on site! The next morning, Saturday Sept. 2nd, we will again
shoot clays but this time in a tournament fashion. A breakfast will be
offered to those participating in the shoot. Fishing on site is also available
for those not wanting to shoot. Lunch again will be served following this, and
we will again hunt that afternoon. All of this for $150 per gun! As
usual, we will offer dove hunts throughout the season and into the winter season
for $50 per hunter.
We
are also still offering the “DUB HOT LIST”, where we call hunters on that list.
We do the scouting, watch the fields, find the birds and call you when the
action gets good. This can be short notice, with calls coming sometimes the
night before a hunt, but it is a good way to get on a good dove hunt when new
birds move in or northern birds come down.
If everything stays as it looks to
be going, we will have an extended teal season this year with 3 weekends to
hunt. Teal numbers look to be up. For that reason, we are expecting
teal season to open Saturday Sept. 9th and run to Sunday Sept. 24th.
Teal hunts are $100 for a morning hunt, and $150 if the morning teal and
afternoon dove hunt combo are purchased. Remember, if you plan to hunt a
weekend, be sure to plan early and book your date to make sure you get it.
In the last few years, we have found
some hunters to be dishonest about showing up for hunts, which robs those that
wanted to come that day of a great hunt and hurts our business in the process.
For that reason, no body will be assured of a date until a deposit is received.
We apologize for this, but it must be enforced to make sure everyone has a
chance at the
dates they want!
If you are a beginner, novice, or
experienced hunter, we at Bwanas Guide Services know you will be fulfilled in
your expectations in the hunts we offer. Contact us by either email or
phone, and allow us to show you a hunt you will remember for years to come!
Season packages and leases, and group rates are available at special pricing.
