Hog hunting rules and regulations

1. The $125 Hunting fee ONLY guarantees hunting access to the property, transport to and from the stand or blind, removal of any pigs killed, and any general needs that may arise during the hunt. Cleaning, gutting, or skinning any pig is not included in this fee. Not following Texas game laws and ranch rules is grounds for immediate cancellation of hunting privileges without refund.

2. Each hunter MUST:
A. Possess a VALID TEXAS HUNTING LICENSE
B. Sign a “B’WANA’S” GUIDE SERVICE “RELEASE FORM”

3. ALL hunters should wear:
A. Rubber boots or scent free socks/boots to cover your stanky feet
B. Scent FREE clothing - Cover scent highly recommended, raccoon pee works best.
C. Appropriate Wet, Dry, Cold, Hot weather related or bug free clothing
D. NO FRAGRANCES, NO SMOKING (Make yourself as NEUTRAL SCENTED as possible)
E. Each hunter should take a shower in scent free soap before the hunt and wash clothes in scent free detergent

4. All “PIG” hunting is from 6 to 15 ft high stands over feeders.

5. Ranges are 30 ft to 30-yards (We are set up for “Archery, Pistol, Black Powder & Shotgun”) Rifles are not recommended but can be used! Remember, you will most likely be hunting at night, so bring a weapon capable of this. Some scopes have trouble picking up the faint LED lighting, so open sights, low power scopes, night vision, or laser sighting is recommended. For bows, lighted sights or a sight lighting system is recommended. Spotlights are not recommended because these tend to scare pigs!

6. Always wear a “SAFETY HARNESS” when in the stands. If you have a safety harness you prefer to use, bring it. Otherwise one will be issued to you at the time of the hunt and MUST be worn at any time in the stand. Any removal of the harness during the hunt or failure to put on the harness is at the hunter’s sole discretion, and any injuries resulting from this decision are the responsibility of the hunter making this decision only and not the responsibility of anyone with B’wana’s Guide Services!

7. NO STALKING ALLOWED OF ANY KIND!!

8. ARCHERY –
A. No “MECHANICAL BROAD HEADS”!! Only “FIXED BROAD HEADS” will be allowed!!!
B. “GAME TRACKERS” are highly recommended, as you will be hunting in thick cover and pigs can be hard to find if they run too far. (97% recovery rate with game trackers!!)
C. Make sure your broad heads are sharp!!

9. We have adopted a “50 YARD RULE” for wounded animals. There will be NO extended tracking of a wounded PIG, unless accompanied by guide. Tracking a wounded pig at night is extremely dangerous, and we generally won’t look for a pig or sign of a wounded pig more than 50 yards from the stand. Make your shots count!!

10. There is to be NO cutting of tree limbs, in and around hunting areas, feeders, stand, or blinds. There will also not be any alterations to the stand allowed. Doing so may disrupt the integrity of the blind and cause an accident for the hunter or future hunters.

11. Never “LOAD” a GUN/BOW, until safely seated and strapped in the stand!!

12. Always practice “GUN/ BOW SAFETY” AT ALL TIMES!!!

The policy of the B’wana’s Guide service is to provide each hunter the opportunity to have a successful and enjoyable hunt. There are no kill or trophy fees charged, however a cleaning charge will be incurred if the hunter decides to have the guide clean, gut, or skin the pig. Each hunter is allowed to but not guaranteed to kill as many as 3 pigs. Any hunter who kills and/ or wounds more than 3 pigs will incur a bonus pig fee for each extra pig. Remember, you can kill as many pigs as you want, but you will be charged excess for extra pigs over the 3 allowed during the hunt!!!

That being said, hunters are not guaranteed to kill or see any pigs during the hunt. Too many factors go into a successful pig hunt to be able to guarantee this. Something as simple as someone putting on the wrong deodorant or not staying still can cause the hunter to not see anything. Pigs are very wary and smart, and are much better at detecting hunters than even deer can be! Scent is usually the main factor in cases where pigs are spooked before or stopped short of coming to the feeder.

We run many stands/feeders and keep digital trail cameras running on several, so we are confident we are putting hunters over a feeder that is being visited. That is all we are capable of doing! It is up to the hunter to take necessary precautions as outlined above to make the hunt a successful one. Please abide by all rules and take suggestions outlined above seriously. We have been doing this for quite a while and know what a hunt takes to be successful!

Good Luck hunting and be safe,

Dan and Chris Lynch
